Job description
Full Stack AI Engineer (Life Sciences)
➡️ Excited about building AI-native products that solve complex problems in pharmaceuticals and life sciences?
➡️ The kind of engineer who is constantly experimenting with new models, agents, AI coding tools and open-source frameworks — then figuring out how to turn them into real products?
➡️ Want to work across the full stack, from intuitive user experiences to backend workflows and LLM-powered intelligence?=
If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you!
Role Summary:
We're looking for a Full Stack AI Engineer (Life Sciences) to join PatSnap in Singapore and help us build the next generation of AI-powered products for pharmaceutical, biotech and life sciences R&D.
This is a hands-on product engineering role for someone who wants to build with AI every day. You'll work across the stack — developing user experiences, backend services and intelligent workflows powered by large language models — and take ideas from early experimentation through to working product features.
Life sciences presents some of the most interesting challenges for applied AI. The underlying information is complex, highly specialised and often fragmented across different data sources, while users expect outputs they can trust. You'll work on problems where simply connecting an LLM isn't enough: you'll need to think deeply about data, workflows, business logic, user experience and accuracy.
We're looking for an engineer with an AI-native mindset: someone who actively follows the rapidly evolving LLM ecosystem, experiments with new models and tools, and is excited about finding practical ways to apply them.
You don't need to be a life sciences expert from day one. If you're a strong engineer who is curious about science and motivated by solving difficult real-world problems, we'd love to hear from you.
This role is an in-office role based in our Singapore office.
Who are we?
PatSnap is a global, Series E, unicorn SaaS platform that transforms the way organizations harness their Intellectual Property and Research & Development productivity. Our user-friendly platform revolutionizes how IP and R&D teams collaborate across the entire innovation lifecycle — using industry-leading, domain-specific AI to generate and validate ideas and bring innovative products to market faster, better, and cheaper. More than 12,000 R&D and IP teams worldwide use and trust PatSnap to innovate and commercialize new products.
As the leading global Life Sciences intelligence platform, PatSnap helps pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, and life sciences organisations make better innovation decisions. By connecting patents, scientific literature, clinical trials, regulatory data, and market intelligence, we enable our customers to identify white spaces, reduce R&D risk, and accelerate breakthrough innovation.
We have a vibrant and diverse team with offices in Toronto, London, Shanghai, and Singapore. Our hyper-growth trajectory is powered by our people, and we are extremely proud of our company-wide vision, work ethic, and entrepreneurial spirit. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where talent thrives and ideas bloom.
What You'll Be Doing:
As a Full Stack AI Engineer, you'll help turn advances in generative AI into useful, reliable products for scientists, researchers and R&D teams across the life sciences industry.
You'll combine strong software engineering fundamentals with an experimental mindset, working across frontend, backend, data and LLM integration to solve complex product problems.
You will:
Build AI-native products end to end, developing and iterating features across frontend interfaces, backend services and LLM-powered capabilities.
Turn emerging AI technology into real product experiences, rapidly prototyping with frontier models, APIs, open-source frameworks and new approaches before taking the strongest ideas into production.
Design and optimise intelligent workflows that combine large language models, life sciences data, business logic and user interactions.
Tackle challenging accuracy problems, developing approaches that make AI-generated outputs more reliable and useful in complex pharmaceutical and scientific scenarios.
Work deeply with life sciences use cases, understanding how researchers and R&D professionals work and translating their problems into effective technical solutions.
Build intuitive user experiences that make sophisticated AI capabilities accessible and useful to customers.
Continuously experiment and iterate, evaluating new models, prompting techniques, tools and architectures as the AI ecosystem evolves.
Collaborate closely with product and domain experts, balancing technical possibilities with customer needs and real-world scientific workflows.
Own what you build, contributing across the development lifecycle from exploration and technical design through implementation, iteration and delivery.
Job requirements
What We’d Love from You:
Has a Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Bioinformatics or a related discipline. Exceptional engineers from other academic backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.
Has a strong foundation in Python and can use it confidently to build production applications and services.
Is proficient in at least one modern frontend framework such as React or Vue.
Can independently build full-stack solutions, connecting frontend experiences, backend logic, data and large language models.
Is comfortable integrating and working with mainstream LLM APIs.
Understands prompt engineering and how to systematically improve the quality and reliability of model outputs.
Has an AI-native mindset and actively uses AI tools as part of their everyday development workflow.
Keeps up with the fast-moving LLM ecosystem and enjoys experimenting with new models, frameworks, open-source projects and approaches.
Is comfortable working through ambiguity and turning loosely defined problems into practical technical solutions.
Thinks beyond individual features and considers the entire user workflow when solving product problems.
Cares about accuracy, quality and the details that make AI products genuinely useful rather than simply impressive in a demo.
Is curious, pragmatic and comfortable learning unfamiliar scientific or technical concepts when a problem requires it.
Enjoys working in a fast-moving environment where experimentation, iteration and continuous learning are part of the job.
Even Better If You Have:
An academic background in biomedicine, pharmaceuticals, bioinformatics, life sciences or a related field.
Previous experience building products or projects for the pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare or life sciences industries.
Experience applying AI or machine learning to scientific, biomedical or other complex domain-specific data.
Personal or professional projects that demonstrate a genuine interest in LLMs, generative AI or AI-native product development.
Above all, we're looking for builders. If you're excited by how quickly AI engineering is evolving, constantly experimenting with what's newly possible, and want to apply that technology to some of the hardest and most meaningful problems in scientific R&D, we'd love to hear from you.
